We are actively building a collaborative, creative, and supportive research group at Yale. We welcome people at all career stages who are passionate about forest ecology, global change biology, and the science-practice interface. Please see information, below, on how you might engage.

**now hiring: field lab manager

We are hiring a Field & Laboratory Manager to help launch the Kuebbing Lab's research program. This is a hands-on role spanning field experiments at forest sites across the Northeast, greenhouse and growth chamber work on campus, and building a seed bank of native and invasive plant species. The ideal candidate has strong botanical identification skills, field research experience in temperate forests, and a collaborative spirit. We welcome applicants whose experience comes from a mix of roles — field technician work, undergraduate research, and internships all count.

Review of applications begins April 27, 2026. View the full position and apply on Yale Careers

**now recruiting: PhD students

We are looking for PhD students to join our group! PhD students in the lab are admitted through the Yale School of the Environment's doctoral program. I am interested in students who want to develop independent research programs at the intersection of forest ecology, invasion biology, and climate change. Strong candidates bring curiosity, quantitative or field skills (or both), and a genuine interest in basic and applied research. If you're interested in working together, please reach out to Sara by email with a brief description of your background, your CV, your research interests, and why you are interested in joining our group.

Postdoctoral researchers

I am committed to mentoring postdocs as independent scientists and supporting their career development. When funded positions are available, they will be posted here (and I anticipate putting out some more specific calls in the next 6-9 months).

I also enthusiastically support postdocs in developing their own independent fellowship applications. Here’s some internal and external programs that might fit research opportunities in our group:

  • NSF,

  • Smith Conservation Fellowship,

  • USDA

  • YIBS

  • YCNCC

If you are interested in developing a fellowship proposal together, please get in touch with Sara with a brief description of your background, your CV, your research interests, and some potential project ideas.
